In 1974, college-age women from the Pacific Northwest began to disappear seemingly without a trace. Authorities were baffled – there were no witnesses, and no physical evidence. Then, in July 1974, a 15-year-old girl came forward with a critical clue. Among thousands of tips, an unlikely suspect emerged – a political rising star and respected law student named Ted Bundy.

TED BUNDY PART 2: TED ESCAPES

In the early 1970s, fear gripped the US when young women in Washington State, Oregon, Utah and Colorado had been found murdered – brutally beaten and sexually assaulted. The main suspect was Ted Bundy, who was serving time for aggravated kidnapping in Utah and was facing first degree murder charges in Colorado, but Ted wouldn’t stay behind bars for long – he escaped not once, but twice from authorities.

TED BUNDY PART 3: THE MURDER TRIALS

Across the US, from January 1974 through February 1978 – young women were disappearing and turning up dead. By the time many of the victim’s remains were found – all that was left were bone fragments. Police searched for clues but had little physical evidence. Authorities were sure Bundy was their man, and methodically built their case against him. Bundy himself helped prepare his defense, but would his amateur lawyering help him beat the rap – or send him to the electric chair?

By 1980, the name “Ted Bundy” was one of the most recognized in the United States. Ted was believed to have killed dozens of young women across the country and was eventually convicted and sentenced to death for the brutal slayings of two sorority sisters and a 12-year-old girl. Bundy maintained his innocence, but as the clock wound down on his final death warrant, he made a last desperate attempt to save his own life – he began to talk.
