The Sixties and The Seventies were the first two seasons of a CNN Original Series from Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone and Herzog and Co.  The shows represented a departure CNN’s traditional programming and required a more creative approach.  We had to balance the tone of the campaign to encompass a range of topics from the more fun subjects like TV and music with deeper dives into the Cold War, Watergate, Vietnam and more.  We capitalized on our viewer’s sense of nostalgia while still keeping the campaign firmly rooted in a contemporary style that aligned with our core brand.
